Bushido CB (pitching)

Was at an outdoor show yesterday and got the chance to look at a few custom built rods by a small southern based company..One of his rods was a CB710 Bushido blank, which was listed as swim bait, cranks and pitching. This being said could one build a pitching rod with the CB72 (heavy, Moderate-fast)... Not looking for recommendations for other brands, this was a question more pertaining to this line of popping blanks in the Bushido line...

Yes you can!
But I would with choose one of their higher grade blanks in that action. No way I would want to sacrifice the sensitivity you would loose by using a glass/graphite composite blank for flipping.
Also would not want the extra weight that comes from having glass in a flipping blank.

But using that action will improve hook-to-land ratio over using a fast to extra fast blank to flip with.

Interesting the one listed in his production line for pitching was the CB710, are these glass?

according to Mud Hole they are a glass/graphite composite. Read the specs at bottom of their page

That is a misprint on Mudhole website.... that description is from the Bushido offshore series. The Bushido fresh and inshore series are not glass.

And yes that blank will work good for your application

the description should read as follows .....

Details
New Bushido "warrior rod blanks" from the American Tackle Company. The Bushido brand combines the latest manufacturing processes & material advancements to target niche technique specific applications. Using combinations of high strain Japanese fiber multi-modulus materials with advanced resin systems in proprietary designs in newly refined actions & lengths of spinning and casting models focused on extreme durability & performance.

High Strain Japanese carbon fibers
Increased material recovery
Increased sensitivity
Advanced resin systems
Multi-pattern designs rolled under high pressure
Refined-Purpose actions & lengths
Comprehensive application specific model selection
Stealthy durable "Black Satin" finish

Think the numbers may be crossed. On the American tackle website the only swim bait rods are listed as SWB not CB. The CB line is all graphite. I build on the CB72's and LS series regularly. I can't answer the question as to whats a better pitch rod, as 98% of my builds are saltwater.

Don, any advice on the power of the blank. If I am pitching and using 50lbs braid, should I opt for the 7'2 or 7'8 sizes in the Heavy, rather than the MH. The 7'10 option is too long for my interests. Thanks

Great emailing with you Jay....

Either will be a good choice but I would personally build the 72 hvy.
