Rainshadow Switch Rod Blanks

I am thinking about building a switch rod on either the Immortal 6wt or Revelation 5wt. I read that somebody said these rods rate differently than other manufacturers. When I look at the weight window on the 5wt, it looks to me like the 4wt Rio lines would best fit in that window. I have never even touched a switch rod but it looks like something fun for a change. I fish smaller waters where a 20+ inch fish trout would be a beast, so I want to build something on the lighter side. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What ever line you chose, just be sure it fits within the rods listed grain window! As you get more experienced, you will find you can work with other lines.

I find the Batson blanks window lists to be very accurate. I personally prefer the Immortal series, but as you know they do not go as light as a 5wt.

Since it's your first, Schneider's to the left has the last generation of Batson switch blanks on sale at a very good price. Look in their Hot Specials section. Have no idea if the new blanks are any different, but there was nothing wrong with the old ones.

Marty, Im having a blast building a revelation 6wt switch. I just test casted it the other day with the guides taped on and really like it so far. I got a RIO switch 6/7 for it. I plan to use it for light steelhead and for streamer fishing for large trout on one local large river. Cant wait to try it. Good luck, Mark
