Apparently a company by the name of Texas Thread Manufacturing is now making Gudebrod. Does anyone have any info on this including whether it's the same quality as before? Re: Gudebrod

How many times is this Gudebrod nonsense going to come back? They stopped making thread at least ten years ago and yet have threatened to return every two or three years but never seem to actually make good on their statements. There was a guy at the EXPO last year that had bought ALL the remaining thread Gudebrod had left from the 1990's when they completely went backrupt.
Believe what you want the rod building world moved on past Gudebrod a decade ago and they won't be back. Done, gone, history. Nobody in their right mind would believe or buy anything from them after a decade of chicken little antics. Re: Gudebrod

The owner of Wel-tec, which was the last manufacturer of Gudebrod thread, works for Texas Thread. Gudebrod closed in 2010 and all remaining stock went to Wel-tech and was then sold off when they went under. I do not think that any new thread will be of the same quality as the Gudebrod pre 2010. The threads that replaced Gudebrod - would they by any chance be imported from Asia? It seems the way to prosper now is to buy stuff and sell it, not to manufacture anything. Re: Gudebrod

When I was at Gudebrod and then Wel-Tec, Everything was Made in the USA. Who knows where they are getting them now. I don't think the Wel tec owner knows the actual specs of the threads since he was just a salesman. It's not easy to copy the thread if you have someone who knows how to analyse things. But I can say it will not be the same quality. Gudebrod did not cut corners on materials. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
