Tiger Wraps and monofilament

Probably nothing new but interesting to me. I was doing a practice tiger wrap and decided to use monofilament fishing line as my sacrificial thread as my top wrap. I used 8# clear mono and two threads as a top wrap. As I was doing the top wrap, the tiger pattern would start to appear as if I was wrapping and adding epoxy over the top at the same time. It was not as clear as when I top coated with epoxy but seemed useful in that you would get a good idea as what you were going to have once you added the epoxy. So far I have added the first coat of epoxy and the images are nearly identical.
I plan to leave the mono fishing line next time and see what happens when I add epoxy. I know someone has done this before but I thought it was pretty neat and wanted to pass it along. thanks Sam Re: Tiger Wraps and monofilament

Sam you are right. Wrapping mono over the base wrap of a tiger wrap will pretty much show how the tiger wrap will look. Actually this method(I think it is called the calydascope wrap-pretty sure this is the wrong spelling)is where you do a base wrap like a regular tiger. The top layer you use 40-60lb mono. This gives a great effect, even more so than a regular tiger. You do not want to put finish over the mono though as this will pretty much ruin the effect. There is a great tutorial on this technique but I cant remember where I saw it. Tom might know.
