Hi all,
I'd like to build a fly rod for my 5 year old. I've let her practice with a few of mine and want to make one with a thinner more child's sized grip or even build it for 2 handed casting. Don't want to buy an expensive blank and would like some recommendations for a medium action blank, 2 piece, 4/5 wt around 7' in length. Open to fiberglass or graphite. I've only really built on vintage blanks so I'm not familiar with what's currently out there. Re: Kid's fly rod blank

Look at the fiberglass blanks from Anglers Roost on the left. granted they are 3 pc but for $30 they can't be beat. A decent blank and if you have an issue with them Johnny stands behind his stuff. Or look at the bargain offerings from some of the other sponsors. Re: Kid's fly rod blank

Built a few kids rods on the PacBay Tradition II and Rainforest blanks. Graphite, moderate action, and pretty tough given some of the abuse I've seen them take. Re: Kid's fly rod blank

Just don't ask Johnny at Anglers Roost any questions. I did and he became extremely abusive. I have had several other people tell me they have had the same experience. I have found some really nice rods on an @#$%& site by a man named Roger. He has a nice little 3 wt that looks like a perfect rod for a child. I can give you the site if you email me.
Have fun. John Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/11/2016 10:42PM by John Wright1945. Re: Kid's fly rod blank
