Just wanted to say hi
I am in Dallas I run a outdoors ministry for fatherless kids taking them fishing...We are wanting to build custom fishing rods and thought this would be a great place to start to learn....Excited to say the least...Think it will teach them patience and a great learning experience They make their own lures now and get great joy from that...Our ears are open if anyone has suggestions how we should start Edited 1 time(s). If you're into the whole building thing, I'm sure there is a tutorial on here for building your own hand wrapper inexpensively. Then they get the joy of building a rod on a wrapper they made themselves as well! But a wrapper and a supply of thread will be needed regardless. Mudhole has some inexpensive IM6 blanks in lots of colors. Get bit also has some. They run a ministry as well, so they may be willing to work with you on price. I am not in any way affiliated with them, so don't take that as gospel (no pun intended!).
Keep doing the Lord's work!!! Re: New here questions

Hi Ken,
Good fortune to you and the youths. You are starting on an adventure that will bring great joy to the youth, especially when they catch fish on rods that they crafted. You will be fulfilled. Keep doing God's work. I bet you will find local rod builders willing to help you with this project once they hear of it. Many blank companies work with schools and youth projects as well as companies like Mudhole. Just call and ask them. You will be surprised. Tackle companies are also willing to help out with youth programs. Good fortune. Capt Neil Faulkner Re: New here questions

This is truly gonna be amazing journey...I will build rods for rewards for our fatherless boys by writing events/Accomplishments on the rods I build them...I'm going to have to start in expensively and work from there but a fun time it will be...To a fatherless boy a fishing rod is a huge deal to them as a badge of Honor Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
