I am trying to find a 12'-14' surf rod blank for a very specific application. The blank needs to be rated to cast about 16oz. Does anyone on here have some suggestions? Re: 12'-14' Surf rod blank

Either of these should work for you = I think Mudhole carries them.

If I had an $800 budget for this build, the CTS blanks would be a great route to take. I need to make it work at about $400 component cost. Thanks though Herb, I do appreciate it! Re: 12'-14' Surf rod blank

I have a couple of the SB166-5F blanks in two piece and smooth finish. They were a special order and I will not sell them. They are typically one piece and the finish is spiral. You may want to call Lamiglas and ask what they can do for you.
Other than the SB166-5F, the only other blank that may work for you is an Island Rod Wrap (IRW) Big Island Special. Other than it being designed for 100# Ulua (GT), the only knowledge I have is the length is 12 feet. The owner of Island Rod Wrap is Kenneth Kimura. If you can not find a number for him, you can PM me for it, or call McCully Bicycle & Sporting Goods in Honolulu and ask for Kenneth. Don Becker Re: 12'-14' Surf rod blank

Brittan,
Please email me guides you will be using and how many sections for blank - hladen@hotmail.com. I may be able to come close to your budget. Herb Re: 12'-14' Surf rod blank

Brittan -
Yes I have built 2 on the 166-F5. The only "problem" was with the length as they are one piece blanks. If you give Lamiglas a call or speak with Todd Vivian at Mudhole they may be able to help you out. The CTS and the Century blanks are both fantastic, I have not built on either of them as they are pretty pricey once you get into the length and terminal tackle weight that you are looking for. If you have a chance to go to the ICRBE you will get a chance to speak with the people who know the most about them. as Hatteras Jack (Ryan White) and Composite Tube Systems (CTS) will both be represented. Batson, IRW, and Talon-Graphite are the top sellers in Hawaii.
All three companies have heavy surf blanks with a proven track record. The Rainshadow SUR1569F-M is available, does not require long distance shipping, probably is two piece graphite with a supportable warranty. Don Becker Re: 12'-14' Surf rod blank

I did look on the RAINSHADOW web site & would have recommended that blank as I own 3 myself and love them. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
