I developed the same problem before I realized I was heating my finish instead of slightly warming it.

Very good information from everyone.
Yes it is warm here. I like to warm up the epoxy before mixing it. Ive noticed i get a better mix with much less bubbles when i warm it before mixing it.
I understand now that its not needed, but i also understand that there is a fine line between warming it and heating it.
Aloha

I take it you use a high build finish If so I would suggest try a small amount of a light build and see if you like that better Less bubbles it will not hold them like a high build will I thin my high build and never worry about bubbles and it IMHO flows better If you thread is done nicely no fuzzes and such a higher RPM will hold more of the light in order to use one coat and give you nicer edges to the wraps

Or

You can put the finish on and if you get bubbles heat with a hair dryer to get rid of them

Hi Bill,

The guys in Hawaii tend to use a lot of size D thread. Since the D thread produces large bubbles, another solution is to down size the thread. I do build an occasional tournament distance rod. Although these rods undergo severe stress, size C works for the larger guides while size A is used for the running guides.
