I've been experimenting with this for a little while. I'm not so sure at this time if this is something i really want to pursue.

But, a friend of mine sent me some pics. Not his rod, and not his work. Not sure where they came from. The marbling(I think that's what it was) did not show the typical swirls. etc. It had a very nice subtle effect; looking quite a bit like clouds. That would be something I would want to learn to do at this time.

Anybody seen this? And maybe know how it's done? I've been trying out everything I can think of to do it, but no luck.

I'm still amazed by the number of people on this site ready, willing and able to help a rookie.

Marbled colors stay more swirled and crisp if the finish is thicker. If you want a clouded look, a little heat after marbling will cause colors to expand from clean lines, and "cloud". Go slow, stop with the heat before it's all the way clouded, as it may keep dispersing for a while. You can always go back and heat more.
