I'm building on a Phenix megalodon mpx 569 cb jigging rod for halibut in Alaska! I want to use the Aftco aluminum gimbal I want to put a rear 10 inch Eva grip on it what grip should I use for a flush fit? The butt OD on this rod is .660. I thought about using the American Tackel smooth butt grips that can be coupled with their gimble for a flush for but I can only get it in 1" ID and I don't like the idea of buildin up the rod to have a snug fit for the grip. Any ideas?

Sand the Eva until it's flush. Re: Rear grip to match gimbal

I'd ask the store to measure....or contact Aftco. My "guess" would be O.D. is about 1/8" over I.D. Also think about rather or not you would ever fish with a cover on the gimbal. I don't mind a gimbal that is smaller than the grip but I sure don't want it bigger.
FWIW found the perfection ball gimbal to be perfect fit with slick butt. They don't dig a hole in your gutt if your fighting belt is off. Russ in Hollywood, FL. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
