I am planning to build a light spinning rod for fishing squid jigs from shore - a very popular technique in my area. Squid jigs are normally between 10g and 21g, and I want 8' to 8'6" length and two pieces. It has to be fast action with tip diameter not more than 4.5. Any idea which blank can work our well ? The Matagi supplied blank is specifically called the LESSON PT Super Eight-H.
I'm using a blank made by a company called Samurai and its called the Premium Squid. It's a little shorter than you want, but I find its a very nice blank for eging and the height deficit is not an issue in real world usage (I too wanted to get a 8'-8'6" blank originally). You can get it from The RodWorks (sponsor of this site) - [www.therodworks.com.au] Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/21/2015 06:09PM by Michael Shea. Re: Eging blank

Thanks guys, yes I forgot to look at Matagi! I'm a client of theirs, so will have a look. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
