The best thing I have found is to have the rod turning at least 40 - 50 rpm gives streighter edges
Then if you need a piece of eva or dowel to rest your hand on Helps to keep it steady Bill - willierods.com Re: some help on wraps / epoxy

Don't start applying the epoxy at the edge of the wrap, rather start applying within the wrap and as the rod is turning kind of push the epoxy towards the edge of the wrap, it will flow out in a straight line if done properly. Re: some help on wraps / epoxy

Best method I found is to push sideways the epoxy using a dental floss or a piece of braided line held between two pieces of wood, but the small dental flosses work wonders! You can buy a bag having 20 or 30 of them. Re: some help on wraps / epoxy

Load the brush, lower it to the rod with one end of the brush just slightly beyond the edge of the wrap, and rotate the rod under the brush, allowing the finish to flow onto the rod as you revolve it. A block of wood or similar can be used to steady your hand. This will result in a perfectly straight edge.
Never "brush" the epoxy onto or around on the guide wrap. Just touch the brush to the wrap and rotate the rod under it. That's all you need to do. ........................................ Re: some help on wraps / epoxy

If I get a wavy edge, I just take a paper towel and wet it with DA then hold it against the blank for a couple of revolutions. Cleans it right up. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
