A friend asked me to build him a 10' surf casting rod for throwing bait with 3-6 oz sinkers. He wants to use a spinning reel as well. I'm looking for blanks now. Need some blank ideas. Thanks MH

Mudhole.com has a sale on surf rods right now:

...and I didn't get paid to say that.

Lol... I saw that. I'm hoping someone has built a rod for that application and has some input. I don't do any surf casting with bait. I use plugs, plastics, tins. Thanks for the response. MH

American Tackle series ATX. I use them for a long time with no complains from the costumers.

Abraço
Nuno

I built a mud hole surf rod based on the 9ft 3/4-2oz blank and loved it. It helped me catch more and bigger fish, no joke, I was able to land a 30lb bass on a jetty in rough conditions. While a beefier rod would be more appropriate itprovestheblanks are tough.
They are also sensitive I just bought four you can't beat the price.

Thanks Thomas, are you talking about the surf rocket series rods? If so I agree. Those are great blanks. I've built on a few of them. Too bad they're sold out. I did take advantage of their recent sale on surf rods and bought a half dozen blanks. Thanks, MH
