Hi Guys,
I am looking for a 6'6" spinning rod blank, fast tip and medium action to throw weightless flukes. I see in some of the posts that this Batson/Rainshadow blank would be good for t this purpose: RX8+C812 6'9" Medium Fast 8-14 1/4-5/8oz. 1.85oz. Satin Black-- Senko Special. However, this blank is not longer being manufactured... Is there a newer model or a similar model that is as good as this one? Mikew Re: Weightless Fluke blank

I have have used many blanks for flukes and nothing I've use to date is as good as the one you mentioned in your first post.
I would check around with some of the vendors to the left. just in case by some chance one of them still may have one in stock. Re: Weightless Fluke blank

Check out the Hydra SJ812-NG. [hydrafishing.com]
It's the same power used for the ALX Rods ZOLO SpeedFury - which was specifically designed for weightless flukes. It's a dominant pattern on Murray, Clarks Hill, Russell, Hartwell, Lanier, and any other lakes with a strong herring population. You won't be disappointed. Feel free to contact me if you have questions. It throws a single fluke, double fluke, and down fluke all very effectively. I usually have two sitting on the deck all the time. Its called the RainShadow Eternity2: [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com] ETES68M It has the same ratings as before, but only weighs 1.4oz thanks to incorporating all the new technologies we have done to the blank. It is a RX9 material and design with Ultra High Modulus. Just go to the link provided and read. You won't be disappointed! Re: Weightless Fluke blank

So would the RX8+C812 also work as well in a casting rod configuration? If not what would make a good Fluke casting rod?

Dave,
The C in the RX8+ line indicates that the blank is a casting model for what it's worth, i.e. Batson made it with the intent that many would build it as a casting rod. Blanks like the RX8+S822.5 and RX8+S823 were designed with the intention that many would use them as spinning blanks, but mine are each built as casting rods. A blank doesn't know or care what type of reel you mount on it. There are many great blanks out there that are used in ways other than what the manufacturer had in mind.
