wrapping

Been using the Forhan Locking Wrap just as an added precaution. Some where I read that there is a way to loop the thread around the stem of the guide. Seems like a better way. Ive tried it several times but it doesn't make a nice wrap . Anyone know this technique?

On the Forhan wrap, you would loop the thread around the guide leg/stem 3 times. I believe there is an article with photos on the library page here.

No problem. Try to pack the wraps around the guide leg down tight and they'll barely be noticeable after the wrap and finishing is complete.

It takes a little practice to get your wrap the proper distance up the foot so when you throw your loop it will pack against the wrap. Done right They look great. I use them all the time on my fly rods because I like the way they finish the wrap. Don't really need them for the strength but it doesn't hurt and they really look nice when done.
