I picked up the 50% off blank to play with but know nothing about the double handed rod world. Should I build this blank with a Spey grip or with a switch grip? Thanks for your help! Pesco Ergo Sum Re: Thomas and Thomas DH1206-3

A 1206 is designed for switch rod if I remember right. You can still Spey cast with a switch set up. Hence the name switch. Single or double handed. Re: Thomas and Thomas DH1206-3

It's a spey blank, I like it with a Rio Skagit Spey line 450 grain, Rio 15 ft. tips up to around 200 gr., T14 tips 8 to 15 ft. Rear grip length of about 4 1/4 inches and 10 1/2 to 12 inch fore grips seem to be used most. Nice trouter and summer steelhead rod. Best grain window 540 to 650 I think. Edited 2 time(s).
