Hello Gentleman, I have a few blanks the were purchased in a blow-out sale years back, They are american tackle blanks IM6 with the gold silkscreen labels. I assume they have a permagloss coating as they are high-gloss. What would be the best way to repair a few scratches that just went through the coating ? Strip them down by sanding? Lightly sand and feather the affected scratched area and re-coat that spot? I was planning to knock the shine off of them with a fine scotch-bright pad for a satin finish before wrapping. Any Thought's would be appreciated. Jaa Re: Best way to repair scratched permagloss

If you are going to " knock the shine off of them with a fine scotch-bright pad for a satin finish before wrapping" the scratches will pobably become much less visible after doing that. I don't think the orginal finish is permagloss, however. Re: Best way to repair scratched permagloss

Thanks Ross, I gave gray scotch-bright a try it's a little better left a nice satin finish overall, Their pretty good scratches about 3/32" by 1/2" long and a little flaky around the edge's, The blank is fine. It's just in the clear coat they used. These blanks must have been seconds both are scratched in the same spot with no holes in the plastic sleeves . Their for my son he wants to add 2 more rods to his walleye arsenal. Thanks again Jaa Re: Best way to repair scratched permagloss

Check and see if the scratches are where you are going to wrap, if so don't worry about it. Re: Best way to repair scratched permagloss

Well I talked to my son he's going to use them for trolling so that will give me a little more room to move around the guides as It's in the back bone area of the rod. Thanks for the suggestions guys Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
