G'Day Marty I make my own winding checks only they are not acrylic they are made from casting epoxy .You would need to make some moulds from a silicon moulding liquid .If you are interested in the process drop me an email Regards Baz Bundeena NSW Australia Re: acrylic winding checks/seat collars

You can also use acrylic clay to do much the same thing, either from a mold or turned from a formed block. A toaster oven and a lathe would be required.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm going to have a go at casting my own, with polyester casting resin. I cast my own soft lures, so hopefully the learning curve wont be too steep or expensive! all the best marty W.V.A. Custom Rods UK Re: acrylic winding checks/seat collars

If you already know that routine you're likely to do pretty well I'd think.

I recently started casting my own out of leftover wrap finish. when I'm done coating guides I mix in some pigment and pour it into a simple mold. This results in a hollow tube I can put on a mandrell (bolt) and slice off pieces as needed. Works pretty well. Re: acrylic winding checks/seat collars

I take Acrylic Bottle Stopper blanks and cut them into more manageable sizes for chocking up into my lathe. They can then be turned into whatever size/shape desired. Lathes can be found at pretty reasonable prices and I only ever use three types of lathe tools for shaping Acrylic - roughing gouge, skew chisel, and round detail finisher.
