Im about to wrap the guides on my heaver rod that i use for a pin rig set up on the pier. Has anyone ever spiral wrapped their heaver before? Is it a better cast or is their any difference at all? Thanks

Spiral wrapping generally isn't done to improve casting, but rather to reduce rod twist and angler strain when fighting a fish. Done properly, it should cast about the same as any other guides-on-top rod.

I believe Bill Falconer has done some spiral surf casting rods for shark fishing and he seems to like them very much. You might search him up on this forum and shoot him an email ask what spiral system he uses for surf casting. I think he does an O'Quinn type spiral.
