I am building a new rod that comes with a rubber butt cap/fighting butt. Will my regular rod bond work for gluing it to the blank? I did not think epoxy would stick to rubber. Any thoughts> Kevin Gross Many men will spend their whole life wondering if they made a difference. Marines dont have that problem - Ronald Regan Re: Rubber fighting butt

Depending on the ID of the butt cap and for your piece of mind you can always rough up the id of the cap with a course grit reamer. Just to give it something to grip on. Re: Rubber fighting butt

RodBond will work great. Be advised that many of the rubber butt plugs come out of the mold dirty. It is a good idea to wipe them down with a clean rag wetted with a mild solvent (I use IPA). You may be surprised how much gunk comes off. Once it is clean, prep the surface you are bonding it to (blank or grip) be water break free and you are good to go. Re: Rubber fighting butt

Bill, isn't it a bit unusual to use India Pale Ale as a solvent? Maybe an internal lubricant ! LOL Re: Rubber fighting butt
