For all of you that don't build a lot of rods this is a reminder to test your thread color and trim wrap color before you proceed. I built a rod with a burgundy thread and Carolina blue trim wrap and it looked great. The blank was a root beer color. With that in mind I used the same combination on a matte grey blank with the same expectations. Well, the Carolina blue trim wrap disappeared into the matte grey colored blank after the first coat of finish. Please remember to do a test before you begin wrapping. I just thought this might help somebody down the road. Re: A Reminder To Test Thread Color and Trim Wrap Color

Yes. All I had to do is make some wraps of thread, add a trim wrap and some water, and I could have easily seen the result. Re: A Reminder To Test Thread Color and Trim Wrap Color

There is a great saying, that, "you get what you inspect, not what you expect!" Re: A Reminder To Test Thread Color and Trim Wrap Color

Also that Regular Nylon will become darker and trasparent without CP So NCP for trim works a lot better Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
