I'm trying to be creative and fabricate something. I would like to attach white PEX tubing to a CPVC fitting. I'm looking for an adhesive to make a mechanically solid joint (so it will hold a few pounds at least, it doesn't have to be waterproof or hold under hydraulic pressure, it's not that type of application.
I'm thinking epoxy because I don't know how the pex will respond to typical pipe adhesives that fuse the plastic. Any ideas? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/15/2015 10:03AM by John E Powell. Re: Pex tubing adhesive

Epoxy won't bond well to some plastics. I know there are "universal" type PVC cements that might bond to PEX. I'd look at one of those, first.

John,
You might try Devcon Plastic Welder. It is a two part plastic epoxy, (?), and works very well on plastics. I used it to repair some stripped out screw holes on my trolling motor then drilled them out to accept new screws. They have been holding solid for 3 years now. It is waterproof and rock solid after it's setup Don Campbell don@sensorfishingrods.com Re: Pex tubing adhesive

John;
You wont find a glue that will satisfactorily attach the two; PVC= poly(vinyl chloride) plastic reacts with solvent types glues and as such is held together that way. PEX= (or crosslinked polyethylene) is an inert type of material that does not react with Solvent type glues or any glue for that mater and is there for held together with crimp/compression type fittings. The only way the use those two materials will be to go to a Plumbing supply house (or maybe Big Box hardware store) and purchase an adapter type fitting designed to accomplish that transition. one side of that fitting will be a glue or threaded connection the other designed to crimp with the Pex. I'm sure there is an adhesive solution to this. Just keep experimenting until you find it. [groups.google.com] Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
