Big thank you to everyone who helped me along the way.
This is one of the hardest things i've tried to teach myself. Got well over 40 hours in this, but most of that was doing and redoing and trying to figure stuff out. Its not perfect but it will slay some fish! After much thought i decided not to go with the spiral wrap, Its a cool concept and would work grate on smaller fish less then 25 pounds. But i like to rest rod across the kayak on the bigger ones, so kept guides on top. Super Seeker Hercules 60XH blank, Afco Aluminum reel seat. On to the next one :) Made a short 40 second youtube clip of the finished rod, follow the link below. Again, Thanks for all the good advice from members on this site! That rod looks badass! Where are you fishing and what are you targeting? Nice work. Be proud! Re: Big Game Kayak rod Finished!

Turned out really nice. Good job...really like the color combo with the abalone.
IMHO...too bad you didn't try the spiral. I think you'd find it works very well from the yak in ANY weight class...not just lighter fish and lighter rods. Interesting that you came to the conclusion that it wouldn't work without having used one. Re: Big Game Kayak rod Finished!

I often find my rods pressed agents the kayak with lots of force, worried it would mess up the guides on a spiral. Re: Big Game Kayak rod Finished!

Looking forward to hearing how you think the blank compares to others over the long haul. Often we have enough emotional investment to think/claim it performs better at first. Then I'm someone who still uses some 30 year old rods......because good is good:) Not that I'm expecting a post in 30 years....but a couple/few would be nice! Russ in Hollywood, FL.
