"The commercial [finish motors] I found run on batteries..." and the lathe he used threw it's belts creating sags...
Makes me wonder where this guy shops for his equipment. After reading the first paragraph I lost any interest in what he had to say. Re: Rod Turner on Instructables

A classic expository writing technique is to lay out the problem you are trying to solve before you offer your solution. Re: Rod Turner on Instructables

Jon,
If he had written something like "I wanted to try and build my own to save a few bucks" or I wanted to try a different approach" I would have made it past the first paragraph. Since you took the time to respond, I gave it another lookover. Unfortunately the second time I didn't make it past the word "thingimibob" before reaching the same conclusion I did initially. I did scan and look over the pictures though. Re: Rod Turner on Instructables

I thought it was pretty neat that he used a microwave turn table as a motor, and explained how to wire it.
I'm sure, as a Mechanical Engineer, that I use thingimibob, or whatchamacallit every day, unless of course it's actually a whosiwatsis Re: Rod Turner on Instructables
