I'm wondering if adding glitter to rod finish is a common practice? I have some very small holo. glitter that i've used in lure making. Thought about trying it on a rod. Any issues with that? thanks, mark Re: Adding glitter to finish?

Mark,
It would work just fine. There are a lot of different powder paints that could be used in finish as well. It is likely that one would have the best appearance, if the glitter finish was put into one of the first layers, but have a glitter free finish on the final coat. I add glitter all the time. Just a pinch though, to much and it's gaudy!! Re: Adding glitter to finish?

Hello,
I have done a few dark-colored blanks and wraps with pearl pigment powder. The micro metallic flakes are much finer than glitter. They give a smoother look while still being shiny and iridescent. A little goes a long way, too much and the finish will take on a "textured" appearance. -chad Re: Adding glitter to finish?

I think you'll find that as Roger said, the clear final coat will add depth, pure gloss on the surface, and will look better. There are VERY fine holo/metallic "powders" available at hobby shops that should work well. Inexpensive kits with multiple colors. That may be what you have for lures. Re: Adding glitter to finish?

I have been adding glitter for years works great and looks nice. Key is not adding to much, so experiment. I stick a epoxy stir in the glitter and only use what sticks to the end, Also Michaels has it in any color you want cheap. For those of us that have repaired BPS Bionic Blade rods they all have red glitter in the epoxy. Tom Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
