hi, id like to try graphite or texalium tubing for a rear grip on my next project. could you give me some tips on installing those? i plan on using 4 foam arbors on a 10" grip. just dont like the idea of having lots of empty space in between the arbors. is this a common thing? thanks, mark

Mark,
When I do this job, I just use the 4-6 inch long foam arbors. I don't leave any empty space between the arbors.

It doesn't take much to adhere and hold the parts so empty spaces aren't a problem. In fact, they'll result in a lighter overall rod at no loss in strength.

There are end caps and front trim that you can buy that also act as spacer shims for mounting.

What I usually do is turn a rubberized cork but that fits the OD of the blank, the ID of the tubing and then a small shoulder so the OD of the cork is flush with the tubing. Same drill for the front. I make the portion of the shim that fits inside of the tubing about 1/2 to 1" in length. I only use the ones on either end, none in the middle. No flex in that tubing over 12-14" or so. I used to turn a cork shim for the middle section but it just isn't needed.
