I recently have been collecting 1950,60, and 70,s Heddon and Garcia Conolon rods, many of which have metal ferrules and most of them are hard to join and take apart. I need some advice on whats best to return them to proper condition. These are really awesome rods, I especially like the Heddons. Thanks in advance Re: metal ferrule maint

Us a polishing rubbing coumpound mild abration, polish the inside femail side and outside male side I do it by hand but you can use a dreamal tool very slow speed 300-900 rpm. and keep the buffing wheels wet. Re: metal ferrule maint

In addition to the comment by Curtis, once you have them cleaned up, you can use a very thin grease to help retard any further damage or corrosion. You want just a film on each part of the joint.

If the outside of the female ferrule is bare and needs cleaning, I would recommend a thin coat of PermaGloss for protection.
