Hello I'm fairly new to the forum and rod building so please excuse my ignorance. I have built one rod so far, a TFO TICR 8wt.. finished it not long before I had rotator cuff surgery so I have yet to fish it. Anyway to the point, I picked up a couple of blanks from on old fly shop that they had laying around for like 15 years and I would like to see if anyone had any info on action etc. or opinions on the rods. On the St Croix website they list the SCII/SCIV blended blank but these I believe are earlier blanks than those listed. One is an SC II 4wt. 7'6" 2F764 and the other is a
SC IV 8wt. 9' 4F908 and both are 2 pc. blanks. There are also pictures posted in the miscellaneous photo section. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks D. Re: St Croix Blank Info - First post

Hi DeWitt,
I built and fished the 4F908 a fair amount. I found it to be quite fast and not really to my liking. If you enjoy a very fast rod, you may like this one. It fished better with a 9 Wt. line which matched the CCS info I measured for that rod. I haven't built the SCII blank you speak but I find them more moderate but a bit heavy in the hand. The best line of fly rods (for me) from St. Croix was the SCIII Avid series. Nice moderate fast action and fun to cast. Terry Re: St Croix Blank Info - First post

Thanks Terry for the input. I may build these to sell or give to a friend if I don't like the action.
I just can't seem to pass up a good deal, besides I need the practice. D. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
