Need to build two travel rods for Mexico.
Trolling bluewater for sailfish, dorado, stripped Marlin and mid size tuna. One will be 30# and I might build one for 50#, leaning toward both being 30#. I built a one peice 50# last year, turned out nice, too long to travel with or ship, $230 shipping each way. Advice welcome for blanks and guides. Not crazy about rollers since I am staying lighter. What about the MHX travel Rod blanks? Need to build by third week of January, so clock is running. See you on the water, Doug Captain Paddlefoot Re: Travel Rod for sailfish and dorado

I don't get the $230 shipping each way. Built a couple of Calstar GF700L a few yrs ago and took to CRica for the same targets, as checked baggage in a rodtube.. Got some grief from the CRican in country airline, but in the end, no problemo, and no upcharge.. Re: Travel Rod for sailfish and dorado

Look at the Blackhole 5 ft 2 piece blanks at Mudhole. I would get the 150 and 250 gram blanks.
You can get a nice carryon case that will hold up to three rods ( conventional). Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
