When one asks about thinning an epoxy resin mix, you are asking for a product to mix with - and to thin the product. This property is normally referred to as a Diluent.

Here is a link from Dow that speaks of some of the chemical properties of such a material:

Roger what is the purpose of your message?
Dow chemical makes a lot of different epoxies for a lot of different applications. This list of diluents is not intended for rod building epoxies. Almost all of these are for industrial applications.
They are specialty products for specific applications.

Thomas,
The point of the post was to illustrate the many different chemicals that may or may not work with a given epoxy as a diluent. Some products may be "hot" and active, others not so much.
My main point was to illustrate that generally speaking it is a mistake to randomly pull things off the shelf and mix with an epoxy and expect to have good results in the finished product. Some products work well since they are designed to have similar chemical properties.
Others not so much.

Be safe
