Jared, one thing about KLH is that the height that gives good casting performance also prevents the rods from fitting into some rod tubes. This is more of a factor in the larger sizes, but something to keep in mind.
Chester, I also use a 500 size Shimano on my UL. Re: CCS help please

Jarod, I did a new check on the Amtak and got the same answer, 1 penny lighter. If you want to do a CCS setup without having the big sheet of pegboard, I have a nice setup that takes up no floorspace when not in use. Sets up in seconds, no heavy lifting. Re: CCS help please

Michael,
Are you willing to share your set-up for doing CCS measurements with us? I'm willing to send you my email address, if it is blocked (I can't remember how I have it set). I'm looking for something that won't take up a lot of space and it sounds like you might have something that I could be interested it. Re: CCS help please

Chester and Michael thanks for your input. I know I'll have to play around with a couple sizes on the butt guide. This will be my first try at a spinning rod on a fly blank and I've seen a couple threads that say just to treat it like any other spinning rod. I'm always looking for a new bluegill/crappie rod for myself so I know I'll end up building one for me also. We have a bluegill "tournament" with a bunch of guys and I know that given the right rod, I could sell an even bigger mess of rods to those guys. Some like the "fast" shorter blanks. But there are a few of them that like 8 foot "noodle" like blanks.
Michael, I would also like to see the plans for the CCS setup, if you can email them to me, that would be great. Re: CCS help please

There is a wonderful panfish blank from Rainshadow that is not a noodle type, but a friend has told me it is a great panfish blank, and this is from a guy who has made lots of panfish rods out of fly blanks.

I've built a few on that blank and they are awesome if you want a faster rod. Sending you an email. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
