I wish to build a casting rod for my grown grandson, who will be using it to fish for largemouth bass. He isn't too careful with his fishing gear so I figure a two-piece rod is less likely to be broken. He won't be fishing live bait, trolling or deep jigging but most everything else. What blanks should I consider? Re: LMB blank choice

Phil, the MHX Mag Taper two-piece bass blanks are very nice. A 7' rod will safely fit in the back seat of a small sedan. [www.fishmhx.com] Re: LMB blank choice

Maybe a glass rod of some sort for moving baits. It will not be a 2 piece. How old is your grandson? Re: LMB blank choice

7' Medium Heavy Fast
Best all around blank for bass fishing. MHX would be a great mfg. to go with. Re: LMB blank choice

I agree with Adam on the 7ft. Medium Heavy great all around bass rod. I build mostly bass rods and that is the number one seller.
If you haven't tried the Rod Geeks they are great rods. I just built one for my daughter in law for Christmas. I was a light metallic green two piece Carbon 2 blank. The younger folks (and older) really like the colors available and makes a great gift from Pop !! So far this year I have built over 20 on Geeks blanks and they look and perform terriffic. Even have a Professional Bass Guide using them who switched from G Loomis to my Rod Geeks builds, he says the 7 ft med hvy C4 is his go to rod.
