When adding multiple layers of finish, do you need to sand between coats? What grit? Thanks. Harry T. Bell Re: adding finish

Not unless you wait several days (more than about 3 or 4). If so, then a light scuffing with fine gray Scotchbrite is all you need.

In our opinion, if you use Flex Coat it will stick to the first coat just like it stuck to your rod blank in the first place with NO SANDING NECESSARY. Of course this is provided that it is clean. Flex Coat Company Professional Rod Building Supplies www.flexcoat.com Re: adding finish

I build rods now as a hobby or for fishing friends and family. I might start a rod and have it on my Flex Coat wrapper for weeks at a time before finishing it. About a month or so ago I put a primer coat on a surf rod and went on to do other things. I believe that it was last week when I went and put on the final coat of Flex Coat High Build on that rod. I did not wipe or sand the wraps before the final coat. Any speck of dirt that I saw I just blew it off with a little compressed air from a can. The finish went on as smooth as can be. I fished the rod yesterday and did not catch anything to brag about but it is still a nice rod. Re: adding finish
