A clent called from the far west asking about the best way to separate a 2-piece rod. He had found one while fishing recently. It was a new nice quality 2 piece rod from the bottom of the lake that he was fishing.

He had tried all of the typical methods to separate the two piece rod.

I passed along the method that had been passed to me some years ago on this forum, about placing the two piece rod behind one's knees. Grasp the rod closely on the outside of each knee and then use the strong leg muscles to separate the rod.

The rod separated nicely for him and he is now cleaning it up from its time on the bottom of the lake.

Thanks again for the tip from long ago.

Be safe
