I have just acquired a Truline BO36 blank for $100. Does anyone have any info on theses blanks? I would appreciate the input. Thanks Re: Truline blank

I've owned about 10 of that model TruLine and currently still fish two, one like yours and an OR36 which was a bit heavier. They ranged from being good 20-30# blanks to top out at a 40# blank. That being said, they were all different being made on different mandrels over the yrs. You need to pull on it to determine how heavy a line it can handle. Most likely its approx 25-35 yrs old if it has the brown finish where you can see the fiberglass grains. If its a smooth high gloss brown finish that the last ones they made around 15 yrs ago and are ok.
Trulines used to collectible, at one point i had around 75 of them, now most anglers consider them too heavy considering what the newer composite rods weigh. Fish it and use it. where are you located? Re: Truline blank

I have the BO36 and have fished it for 30 years plus. It's a good 30 lb rod and have fished 25 lb on it. It was once my favorite go to rod, because of that perfect bend it made when hooked up. It has enough power in the butt section and I've caught tuna up to 70 lbs (wouldn't recommend it ) on it. It can serve as a surface iron rod also as it loads up well with Tady45 and C jigs Re: Truline blank

Thank you all for the information.
Jim, It is brown finish with the grain visible. I looked it up and it is a 20-30# med/fast blank. I am going to build it, but I haven't decided if i am going to do a wrapped handle or hypalon. I am in California. Originally from Long Beach, but live the eastern sierras now. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/05/2014 05:16PM by Jerald Wagoner.
