Have any one used one of the Batson RX8 blanks in models XP841, xp842, or XP843 for use as a casting rod with light to medium crank baits. i.e. baits like #6 shad raps, or #6 flicker shads?
With the softer tip and more moderate action, I would think that - depending on the weight of the lure, one of these blanks could be an excellent candidate for that purpose. Thanks for any thoughts. Roger Wilson Re: Blank for casting rod for medium lures

Roger, I've got an XP842 that I built for the purpose, if you are just casting, it is marginal, if you do any trolling, I feel like it is a little on the light side for the flicker shads and such. I've got it paired with a hopped up mg50 and it is nice and light however I think that if you have an xp843 you would be right on point with it.

Thomas,
Thanks for the update. I have built rods on the whole series of xp8-- blanks and I was thinking that the 843 would be pretty close. I think that I will go with that one. I do like these series of blanks. Nice and light with very predictable actions. Roger Re: Blank for casting rod for medium lures

yep, I LOVE my little xp840's for the really light stuff!!! I think they are a great series for certain.
