Ive pulled apart a rod with a turned wooden bottom grip, and a top wood grip that was held together with 2 pins o ether side of the metal reel seat, I had to grind off the pin on top to fix a wobble on the top but I am now seeking the advice of my peers...Do I put another pin in to attach the top portion of the rod to the metal seat or should I use epoxy? Second question-If I use epoxy, how well would it adhere to the metal reel seat?? that is after I sand it to roughen it up. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
thanks again, Ernest Cameron P.S. the pin goes straight into the wood, and not the blank (FYI) Re: gluing to metal???

Ernest,
It likely makes sense to use a pin that is slightly oversized to be sure that there is no wobble. Also, put a bit of epoxy on the joint as well and you will be good to go. Be safe Re: gluing to metal???

Epoxy alone will be more than enough to hold it, if you care to forego the pin. Just make sure your surfaces are properly prepared before you apply epoxy to them.
Clean - scour/scuff with Scotchbrite or 40 grit wet/dry paper, then apply epoxy and adhere. .............. Re: gluing to metal???

Thanks, should be 400. 40 grit would weaken the bond.

Ernest -
Although the pin is not needed I would put one in just to fill the void in the metal ferrule. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
