What do you think of these guides for a 9', 6 wt.
A Size 12 stripping guide and size 2s to the tip top. Opinions sought. Thanks, Bruce how about: 12, 6, and size 2s to the tip? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/03/2014 01:32PM by Bruce Tomaselli. Re: Guide set for a new build

Wouldn't be my first choice. To much of sudden transition from stripper to snake. Re: Guide set for a new build

Agreed - #12, #6.
But for my saltwater #6's - #16, #10, #2's Re: Guide set for a new build

Thats the great thing about fly rods I can pretty much use six-eight number 2's, one number 3, one number 4, and one number 10 or 12 on anything from a 8wt to a 3wt. Re: Guide set for a new build

I've done numerous fly rigs with oversized guides, they turn out great. I do a #12 stripper and #3's the rest of the way to a large loop tip top. Built a 3 wt that way and that is a great casting rod. The weight is negligible, yet some will argue. You can't tell a difference in casting. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
