I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced fuzzies in Sulky thread when doing trim bands or wrapping guides, usually after I apply first coat of finish. The odd thing when additional coats are applied the finish doesn't show any signs. I'm not really complaining just wondered abouts others using the same thread. Spend some, save some, give some away!!! :-) Re: Fuzzies when using Sulky

I think what you want to do is look at the thread on the spool under magnification before you wrap with it and then do the same to the thread after it's been wrapped onto the guides. If there are no fuzzies on the spool but there are fuzzies on your guide wraps then something either in your tensioning set up or the way you handle the thread is creating those fuzzies. Sulky rayon is terrible for guide wraps if your using color preserver. Something happens with it when the finish dries that the thread softens and the guide will work loose in a short period of time. There have been times where I had to use a specific Sulky color and did a full under wrap of nylon with a couple coats of permagloss, then over wrapped with sulky. Not ideal but better than having the guides come loose. Sulky is fine for trim bands and butt wraps but not where the strength of the thread is actually needed like in a guide wrap. Why use it at all if it is such a pain to work with? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
