Thanks Phil, I very much appreciate your response. What kind of line do you use on it? Re: Batson RX7 Spey Rod

I use Rio Scandi and Skagit depending upon the type of Steelhead fishing I'm doing. Re: Batson RX7 Spey Rod

These are really very good rods. You'll be happy with it matched with the right line. I've built a number for customers and myself.

Batson's recommended grain window is: 510-560, I actually fish a Rio 500 grain Skagit. Re: Batson RX7 Spey Rod

I settled on a 560 SA Skagit when I had that rod, and it loaded and shot acceptably with various T-tips and a wide range of fly sizes. However, being a little faster action than the 13'3" Forecast, felt it was better suited to Scandi lines, in the 525 grain range.
Have fun with your build. (When did Batson discontinue their plum spey blanks?) Re: Batson RX7 Spey Rod

Thanks. The plum blanks were being sold on close-out last month. I picked up the 1338 for C$118.
I'll probably build it for next year's trip to northern BC. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
