Batson RX7 Spey Rod

I am thinking about building a Batson RX7 13' 3" plum color discontinued blank. Dose any one have any thing to say about this rod good are bad its for my use.

I use Rio Scandi and Skagit depending upon the type of Steelhead fishing I'm doing.

What grain weight for Skagit?

Batson's recommended grain window is: 510-560, I actually fish a Rio 500 grain Skagit.

I settled on a 560 SA Skagit when I had that rod, and it loaded and shot acceptably with various T-tips and a wide range of fly sizes. However, being a little faster action than the 13'3" Forecast, felt it was better suited to Scandi lines, in the 525 grain range.

(When did Batson discontinue their plum spey blanks?)

Thanks. The plum blanks were being sold on close-out last month. I picked up the 1338 for C$118.
I'll probably build it for next year's trip to northern BC.
