I have a grip that I need to turn down a bit to fit a Fuji reel seat. It has cork and Eva on it, what do I need to turn it with? High grit sandpaper? Steel wool? Please help,
Thanks Robin Re: Turning down a grip

Do you have a lathe to spin it, while shaping it?
If so, chuck it into the lathe and use sand paper to shape the grip. Otherwise, you can free hand the sanding. I would use about 100 grit to start with and go down in grit as you get near the finished size. If all of the grip that you will turn, will be inside the reel seat, you don't have to use anything finer than 100 grit, since all of the sanded portion will be on the inside of the reel seat. Be safe Re: Turning down a grip

The transition areas between differing density materials can be problematic when sanding. Usually the softer materials get oversanded when trying to sand the denser material. Fast turning speeds and a flat backer behind your abrasive material will minimize the difference in material removal. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
