Single Foot Guides on a Medium-Heavy Weight Rod

Want to use Fuji's new Titanium Torzite guides on a medium-heavy weight spinning rod using a 9-foot MHX Euro Catfish Rod Blank, 10/64 tip, with 40# braid. Would like to use single-foot guides, but wonder if they could hold up under the pressure of a 15# fish being fought with heavy strain. Plan to use an "MN" tang-type tip, which should easily stand up to side/torque loads if the rod is not normal to the direction of the fish or the user holds the rod off-center (sideways) to load. Don't know the bend profile of the blank, but if it is fast (not a soft tip), then it seems single foot guides should work since they all share the load rather equally. I could double wrap the guides to increase hold if necessary. The alternative would be to use double-foot guides, but is this unnecessary overkill? This is a new design and I would appreciate other points of view.

I have no experience with Torzite titanium, but I can testify that the titanium SIC Fujis I've used are very very strong. I would not hesitate to use them for this application. I recommend not using CP (I know, there was a study that said it didn't compromise thread adhering to the blank, but that has not been my experience) and would use one of the harder wrapping epoxies.

I use Alps single foot micro guides on rods spooled with 80 lb braid with no problems.

Think that what you are looking to use (larger single foot guides) would work as well

Those guides will handle a lot more stress than the 40 lb braid can dish out.

No issues with the guides.

Phil,

I just finished building a rod for a buddy with Fuji Torzite Guides, (6 mm, 5.5 mm & 4 mm's the rest of the way). I was extremely impress with the Torzite Guides. They're pricey; but oh so sweet!
