A friend of mine brought over a Model 59 Southbend Bamboo rod that is 9ft long and 3 pcs. in a cloth case. Some of the wraps are loose, but other than that it looks to be in excellent shape. Does anyone no of a value or is anyone interested. If so let me know and I can take some pictures and send to you. Thanks Steven Mattson

If it's in truly excellent condition it's going to be worth somewhere between $200 and $400. Generally such rods can be had for $75 to $150 in average condition.

I think the 200-400 estimate is high. even in mint condition $200 would be pushing the envelope. The model 59 was a fairly common "blue collar " rod and made by the thousands. It's not a bad rod if you want to try cane but it's a tad on the heavy side by today's standards. before you take it out make sure the ferrules are all tight, clean and not cracked. you would have to rewarap those loose guides and check the guides for rust. then put a 7wt tapered line on it and have fun. message me if you want more info.

I agree with Gary on $200 being at the top end - if all the guides, ferrules were original and the grips are pristine with original bag. It is not what anyone would call a "collectible rod" like a Leonard or Payne. It is a good rod to take our and have fun with.
