Straightest axis question

Hello,
Which side should I build on with the straightest axis for a spinning rod? The side the curves up or the side that curves down? Sorry for the dumb question. Thanks!

Position the rod so that in the position you'll be fishing it, the tip and butt are "high" and the belly is "low." The components, mostly the guides near the tip, will tend to straighten the rod and you will also have the maximum deadlift capacity when the rod is in that position.

If it is a two piece rod assemble it so the two pieces are at their straightest. Then rotate the rod while sighting down it and you will see that it curves down at one point in the rotation. Put a piece of tape on the female ferrule and one just below it on the butt section. Mark with a pen or pencil on the tape where the two sections should go together in the straightest axis. Now you will know where to attach your tip/top and your reel seat in line with the rod.
