I have a Rainshadow 7' Rx7 crankbait blank that I am considering doing a spiral wrap. I've done a bunch of spiral wraps but it's usually on tip up presentation type rods. It's there any advantage to spiral wrap a crankbait rod? Re: spiral wrap crankbait rod

Yes, the same as any other spiral wrapped rod, stability (no rod torque) better fish fighting ability. Re: spiral wrap crankbait rod

Chris,
Lately, I have been building my spiral wrapper rods with a pretty good angular offset on the butt guide in the direction of the spiral. When I first tried it, I thought that it would cause stacking on one side of the reel. Much to my surprise it worked even better than a butt guide set at 0 degrees. With a 20 degree offset on the butt guide, there is only 160 left to go to get to the bottom of the rod. Give it a try and do some test casts with the guides taped on and some long retreives and see how the line comes onto the reel. If it works great. If not, go back to some other angular setup for the butt guide. Be safe Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
