Just seeing what people like for crappie blanks. I have made one out of a MHX 1081 steelhead blank, working on a MHX 1142. I have thought about using a fly blank, but not sure if they would have the backbone? I hear people like the MHX panfish blanks, but from the description my guess is they are too flimsy. I like a fairly fast blank. The 1081 with mod fast action is a little too moderate for me. I think the 1142 should be better, once I get it re-built. Just interested in what other people use and like for jigging blanks. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/02/2014 08:59AM by Jeff Bersuch. Re: 8 to 10' crappie jigging blanks

Jeff,
I have built four of the MHX 1422, 12 foot 2 piece.. It is rated Med Lt moderate fast. I wouldnt consider this "too flimsy" at all. One of the four that I built is a shop rod that gets loaned out to customers to try. If they like i build it to their specs. Ive had only positive feedback from this blank both for dapping, spider rigging, and even casting float and fly rigs. Whenever the shop rod gets loaned out i get a sale out of it. Strongly suggest you give this blank a try. Customer even landed a 21" smallmouth on it. Buzz Re: 8 to 10' crappie jigging blanks

Yeah, don't get me wrong, the MHX 1081 is one good crappie rod. You can feel the fish "think" about biting your jig. Even caught one fish that swam by and lassoed him with my loop know. It's just has a little more bend that I would like. I really think the 1142 I am working on (that I had to tear down and re-do) is going to be about perfect. I was just curious if anyone has any input on the MHX panfish series, or ones that have used the fly blanks as a crappie jigging pole. I might also add, I vertical jig and pitch and jig back about 99.9% of the time. Re: 8 to 10' crappie jigging blanks

Are you using a 1422 or a 1442? I'm having trouble finding the 1422. Re: 8 to 10' crappie jigging blanks

Looks like he is using the 1142. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
