2 piece rod blanks?

Does anyone know of a 7-7'6" 2 equal section moderate action glass or graphite blank I could build a bass crankbait rod with? I travel a lot and it's easier to get a shorter rod tube in aircraft baggage than a one piece. Also a similar length blank with a flipping/pitching type action? I've searched without success. Failing that, any tips on the possibility of cutting a blank in half and fitting a ferrule? Re: 2 piece rod blanks?

Rainshadow ISP843-3 or ISP844-3. (for crankbait)
I would much rather compromise on action some (fast vs mod-fast, for example) than try to cut a rod blank in half and fit a ferrule. Flipping/pitching a faster action? Rainshadow SB843-3? I also would much rather travel with a 3 piece blank than a 2. I think there are other 3 piece travel blanks by other makers that would work fine, IMHO. Re: 2 piece rod blanks?

Thanks guys, but I'm really looking for two piece. I have quite a collection of one and two piece MHX blanks which I am very happy with, but I still haven't found what I'm looking for. Re: 2 piece rod blanks?

RodMaker has had several articles on making and fitting ferrules. Much too involved to put into a forum post. It can be effectively done, but will take some care and precision on your part. There is some information to be had in the online library here in the repair article by Ralph O'Quinn.
If you can find what you want in a 2-piece blank, that'll save you a lot of time. Try looking at models that might be marketed under something other than the specific use you have in mind. Many blanks will cross over to other uses quite well. ................. Re: 2 piece rod blanks?

Thanks Tom. The only rod I've found that might be a suitable crankbait rod is a Majorcraft, but I hate the way it's built and can't find the blank. I tried an MHX 7'6" 2 piece inshore rod as a flipping stick, but it's so not right! Tricky when you can't get your hands on the blanks to get a feel of them before buying, that's why I was hoping someone might have had some experience with something suitable. Re: 2 piece rod blanks?

Pity more companies don't offer CCS measurements so you could match something up. That would at least put you in a very small ballpark.
Did you call Mudhole and ask Bob or Todd what they'd recommend? Or any other sponsor for that matter. If they knew what you were after in terms of what you have now, they might be able to suggest a suitable model based on your blank's current action and power. Just an idea. .......... Tim,
One feature you might want to try on our web site is the Blank Search feature, you can specify any blank parameter you want and the Blank Search engine will pick the matching blanks from all the blanks Mud Hole currently offers. Some toying with the search logic can lead to some interesting blank results you may not have thought of. Click on the following link to try it: [www.mudhole.com] Regards. Thanks. The blank search thing completely defeats me. I tried to get a response from it, but until I reduced all the criteriavdown to a 7ft 1 piece rod I didn't get any suggestions from it. Too complicated for my simple mind to work! Re: 2 piece rod blanks?

I have a st croix mojo 7'4" glass rod 1/4 to 3/4 rating and it works fine (better before I snapped 2" off the tip, but that's another story!). Anything similar would be perfect. It's a crankbait rod, so it doesn't need to be special, just moderate action, glass or carbon. Re: 2 piece rod blanks?

I haven't looked at specific models but you might try looking at Seeker and Lamiglas as two companies that make some different type stuff. They both have some interesting glass blanks in two piece models. No idea if either has what you're looking for but it's worth a shot. Re: 2 piece rod blanks?

I may have a contender! Does anyone know anything about the Rainshadow IP844F or IP904F blanks? They're listed as mod fast 2 piece blanks suitable for Redfish or snook. How would they fare as a bass crankbait rod? Re: 2 piece rod blanks?
