I must respond to Randolph's comments on Tru Oil. TruOil has been a prferred gunstock finish for over 30 years, and I personally have used it for at least half that time. If there were mold issues with it, it would long ago have been replaced or fallen from favor, and that is not the case at all!
While we all have developed favorite processes and materials, belittling those that others use, is in bad taste!!! Re: Finish on wood handle

I believe Phil meant to take exception at my post, not your post Randolph, which is fine of course.
Just to keep the record strait, when I finished the custom carved gunstock on my Swedish Mauser I applied about 20 coats of True Oil because it was an easy to use product that was appropriate for the task. The Swede comes out of the gun cabinet a couple times a year and at most maybe sees varied humidity but never wet conditions. It has held up flawlessly. I am very happy with it for this use. I'll keep using tung oil based products for the wet conditions. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
