Fenwick model CA686

Hello to all out there on rodbuilders. New to this forum, so will start by saying that I'm from New Orleans and have fished southern Louisiana as long as I've been alive. I have a very important project that I'm trying to get completed and hope that someone out there can lead me in the right direction. My father passed away August 19, 2013, and we haven't had a chance to go fishing together since Katrina. Too much work, as we are electricians. So, anyhoo, my mother was asked to go on a fishing trip. She asked me if I could get "The" fishing pole ready for her. This means thier fishing pole. My Mom and Dad built this pole together in the early 70's. Bought the blank, wrapped the eyelets, the whole works, then topped it with, as far as im concerned, the best reel. The Ambassador. The Ambassador is getting work done on the drag, all good there! Problem is, I need a new handel for the rod. Fenwick model CA686. I'm not sure what you call the part in this particular case, but it part that tension holds in the reel has broken. If anyone out there can send me in the right direction as far as a fix, parts, anything, that would be great. Even the old schoolers down here are shaking their heads. Got a picture of all the parts I have, but cant seen to get it on the forum.
Thanks
Alex Hankel

It sounds like you need to replace the old broken reel seat with a new one. Is that the case?

Randolph,
Yes, thank you for your response and clarification of the part name. If you know where to get one or a possible fix for one that is cracked. Would love to here your thoughts.

Alex,
I saw some available on a well known "bid-site". If you need the one I'm thinking you need, search for Featherweight Products Champion reel seat. Hope you find it. I'm in Harahan and do rod repairs and builds. Let me know if I can help you.

If you're hunting for the screw locking device for a molded Fenwick LunkerStik pistol grip style handle the part is called a skip and screw assembly. You will have to locate an identical Fenwick molded handle. The skip and Screw assemblies were never sold separately although Fenwick did provide them for repairs to some larger dealers. The Lunkerstik pistolgrip handle was molded for Fenwick in Southern California from the mid 1970's until the early 1980's. You can see some photos of this handle on rods at []

Good luck in your search for this part.

Vic,

The skip and screw sounds like the piece I'm looking for. Any suggestions or help with this would be hugely appreciated. In dire straits...
