Looking to build the following build:
Spinning rod for school stripers, fluke, and weaks. In the back off the banks and piers. To cast light jgs, fin s, and plugs. Heaviest I'd heave is an sp minnow or 1.5 Ava in the fall. Thinking 7.5-8.5 ft? Would need 2pc blank. I've been reading about the possibility of a steelhead blank. Looking for a fairly light blank, 3oz or so. Thought and reccomndation are appreciated. I'll be ordering from mudhole. Tks. You might want to look at the Century Sling Shot 1025.
It is an 8.5 foot blank, rated 1/2 - 2 1/2 oz. It was developed for school striper fishing but is still a rod with pretty good backbone. I'm not sure about the blank weight but the Century rods are usually pretty light. I'm thinking of building on this blank for fishing some of the small rivers that feed in to Buzzards Bay . Hi Danny,
Looks like they have a St Croix Steelhead blank that is overstock sale priced 25 % off that sounds like what you are looking for.8'6",2 piece,3 oz rod weight and lure 3/8-1.5oz. I am hoping to build a similar rod in the future for flounder/fluke after I get my surf rods done. I would give Mudhole a call or maybe someone here that use that particular scII blank can chime in.
